Tehran has dismissed claims that a diplomatic breakthrough is imminent with Washington, asserting that no progress toward an agreement has been made and no concessions were granted regarding its nuclear program. Iran’s security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, stated that the U.S. response to Iranian requirements was not convincing, adding that the U.S. must act on seven specific conditions before the Strait of Hormuz can be fully reopened.
The denial follows reports that Washington had approved a Qatari-mediated draft memorandum of understanding that would trade the release of frozen assets for nuclear program limits. While the initial news caused WTI crude oil prices to fall by more than 5%, energy markets began to stabilize as Tehran rejected the claims, with Brent crude trading near $103.50 a barrel by Tuesday afternoon.
