Baseten reported that the coding model Mirendil-Base-Large achieved the lowest bits per byte, a measure of perplexity, of any model it tested on private codebases the system had not previously seen. Along with the test results, Baseten announced it will serve as the inference partner to provide the infrastructure for Mirendil models.
Mirendil is currently conducting post-training on its foundation models and plans to release API access and independent benchmarks soon. The company developed its initial coding model, Mirendil-Base, in 3.5 months using less than $10M in compute and one researcher, with AI agents authoring over 99% of the codebase.
