The updates followed Tuesday's discussions in Oslo involving Zelenskyy, Witkoff, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb, while Kushner joined remotely due to the flu. Stubb said after the meeting that the participants "found some elements of peace which will be taken forward to St Petersburg tomorrow" and had made progress on a substantive and technical level over the past week. Støre added that the talks covered Ukrainian security, postwar prosperity, territorial issues and sanctions.
Separately, the Trump administration is nearing a deal with Moscow to release multiple detained Americans, ABC News reported, citing two US officials and another person familiar with the matter. A US official earlier said Witkoff's Russia trip would include efforts to free Stephen Hubbard, an American imprisoned since 2022.
