Apple is developing an updated line of touch-screen MacBook Pros for next year that will feature M7 Pro and M7 Max chips, according to Mark Gurman. The next-generation laptops will include specialized hardware to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities and will add a new entry-level 14 inch model featuring the thinner chassis and slimmer bezels found on the high-end configurations.
The planned expansion follows the company’s recent introduction of the first touch-enabled MacBooks, which start at $2,899 for the 14 inch and $3,399 for the 16 inch versions. The move to include touch interfaces marks a departure from a long-held corporate philosophy that dismissed the technology as impractical for laptops due to arm fatigue and ergonomics.
