A vacancy in the Texas congressional delegation was filled on Tuesday after the Associated Press called the contest for Katy Padilla Stout. The Democrat defeated Republican opponent Brandon Herrera to take the seat for the 23rd Congressional District.
The outcome marks a party flip for the open seat, as the district had previously been represented by a Republican. Herrera, who identifies as “The AK Guy” and runs a right-wing YouTube channel, lost the race to Stout.
