An American Research Group survey conducted through Oct 20 found that 67% of respondents disapprove of the president’s performance. This leave’s Trump with a 29% approval rating, which is the lowest level of his presidency and occurs less than two weeks before the midterm elections.
A separate CNN and SSRS poll conducted Oct 15 to Oct 18 showed a 32% approval rating and 66% disapproval. That survey also placed Democrats ahead of Republicans on the 2026 generic congressional ballot 49% to 39%. Trump has dismissed the CNN figures as fake, and his approval has declined since a peak of 48% in late February 2025.
