Republican aligned political action committees have utilized contributions from Elon Musk to purchase a high volume of advertising for the current general election. A Washington Post analysis of figures from AdImpact found that these groups spent $431 million on ads targeting congressional races, representing the bulk of Musk’s largest political donations. Other groups funded by Musk have also spent over $430 million, and costs continue to rise as the voting date approaches.
The surge in spending is contributing to this cycle becoming the most expensive midterm election in the history of the United States. Musk has emerged as a central figure in the financing of campaigns to influence the composition of the legislative branch in the 2026 elections.
