The increase in flows occurs as attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Aden intensify. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency reported at least one attack a day since Oct. 2, and maritime intelligence firm Marisks tracked seven total incidents, including an Oct. 1 projectile strike on the crude carrier Kazimah III. Before the war began on Feb. 28, the strait typically handled 125 commercial vessels daily and moved 20% of global crude and LNG supply.
