The Surgut site is the largest plant of its type in Russia, converting 12 million tonnes of gas condensate into diesel, gasoline and aviation kerosene annually. Located roughly 2,400 km to 2,600 km from the Ukrainian border, it is one of the most distant energy targets hit in the conflict. Alexander Dyukov, CEO of Gazprom Neft, told an energy conference that the company has improved security and aims to fully protect its facilities.
