Long-range Ukrainian drones targeted some of Russia’s largest chemical facilities in the Tula region and the Republic of Bashkortostan on Wednesday. The operation hit plants tied to the Russian military industry, prompting Moscow to claim its air defenses shot down 1,214 drones during the overnight wave of attacks.
One of the primary targets, the Bashkir Soda Company in Sterlitamak, suffered a large fire following the strike. The company is the only manufacturer in Russia of terephthaloyl chloride, a compound essential for producing synthetic ballistic fibers and high-strength polymers used in the manufacture of helmets and military body armor.
