The editor-in-chief of RuBaltic argued in a piece published Sept. 25 that Russia could bypass ground troops and use nuclear missiles to quickly subdue Lithuania. The article, titled “Russia faces another special military operation. It will be very short,” appeared on the state-run RIA Novosti website before being deleted hours later. RIA Novosti stated the work of freelance author Alexander Nosovich was removed because it did not correspond to the editorial staff’s opinion, editorial policy, or the state policy of Russia.
