A special operations headquarters has been formed in the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie regions to lead a joint security effort between Poland’s military, police, and border guards. Police Chief Marek Boroń announced the mobilization of reinforcements, including counterterrorism units, to secure critical infrastructure and public safety along the border with the Kaliningrad region.
The preventive operation follows warnings from Poland’s Military Intelligence Service and allied agencies about potential incursions by armed groups and acts of sabotage coming from Russia. Officials stated the measures are a response to increasing hybrid activities linked to the Russian government in the coming days.
