Election analyst Zachary Donnini attributed the shift in voting method to Democratic concerns over US Postal Service delivery delays, leading more Democrats to vote early in person or use ballot drop boxes while Republicans grow more comfortable returning ballots by mail. That dynamic initially cut the Democratic registration edge in early Clark County mail returns to 7.5 points from 18.6 points at the same stage in 2024, before two later batches containing Saturday drop-offs arrived with Democratic margins of 31 and 38.8 points.
The Sunday numbers extended a turnaround from the opening mail-in counts, when Republicans reached a 31.2% share in Clark County, topping their peaks of 25.6% in 2022 and 27.2% in 2024. When in-person voting opened on Saturday, Democrats took a 5.5 point lead in Clark County by 5:30 p.m. with turnout at 123% of 2022 levels, and new Clark County mail returns favoring Democrats by more than 3 to 1 pushed the combined statewide margin to 4.1 points.
