The foreign ministers of Paraguay and Belize are now barred from obtaining visas and engaging with organizations or individuals in China. These measures, which became effective Oct 12, prohibit official cooperation and travel for the two diplomatic heads under a new set of restrictions from Beijing.
China’s foreign ministry imposed the sanctions in response to the diplomatic ties Paraguay and Belize maintain with Taiwan. The countermeasures are designed to block the officials from coordinating with the Chinese institutional ecosystem and entering the country.
