The U.S. firm Canton Strategic is preparing to list digitized versions of its common stock for trade on a permissioned brokerage venue. The company plans to launch the tokenized shares of its common stock ($CNTN) on Nov 2, which would make it the first publicly traded domestic company to offer issuer-sponsored tokens under the Securities and Exchange Commission’s new tokenization framework and September innovation exemption.
The shares will be available for trading on the TSV venue within the Canton Network, provided certain regulatory conditions are met. Fairmint, an SEC-registered transfer agent, will handle the issuance of the shares and maintain the official records of ownership on the blockchain.
