A wave of targeted violence recently swept through the retail sector of a Mediterranean port city, Paul Amar reported. The French journalist stated that rioters in Marseille set fire to all businesses owned by Jews on a specific street, while establishments owned by Muslims were left untouched.

The attackers arrived at the scene prepared with specific lists of addresses for town halls and Jewish property owners, Amar said. The selective nature of the arson suggests the perpetrators preplanned the attacks by identifying specific targets before the unrest began.
