S&P Dow Jones Indices and the trading platform Kalshi are developing new financial benchmarks tied to real-world event contracts. The new indices will combine prediction market data into single indicators that allow investors to monitor and potentially hedge risks related to variables such as political power, supply chain disruptions, and the impact of artificial intelligence on employment.
The venture aims to apply the structure of traditional stock market indices to non-equity events, making them accessible through linked financial products. The partnership leverages the scale of S&P Dow Jones Indices, whose existing products, including the S&P 500, currently support more than $20 trillion in benchmarked assets.
