The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is probing whether prediction market operator Polymarket violated a 2022 settlement that required the firm to prevent US residents from accessing its offshore trading site. The investigation examines the company’s geolocation controls and its advertising activities in the US, as well as customer onboarding and protection measures on Polymarket’s domestic platform.
Both the CFTC and Polymarket declined to comment on the investigation. The agency and the Department of Justice previously closed similar inquiries into the company in 2025 without filing charges.
