The governing body of Spain’s top soccer division offered a formal apology to Chinese citizens and institutions on Tuesday to preserve its professional relationship with the country’s sports market. Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, said the league is working with Chinese partners to resolve a dispute that saw Chinese state broadcaster CCTV suspend live coverage of matches featuring Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé. The apology comes as part of an effort to ensure the individual actions of one player do not permanently damage ties with the Chinese government and its sports authorities.
