A potential agreement to end the war between Iran and the US would include a financial arrangement for the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets in exchange for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Reports indicate a possible framework is emerging that links these maritime security measures and Iranian nuclear commitments to sanctions relief provided by the US.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed on Sunday that the Iranian delegation in Doha has spent three consecutive days holding talks with Qatari mediators. While Araghchi said negotiations are progressing and moving toward the implementation of a proposed two-day plan, he noted that no definitive agreement has been reached and that no direct meetings with US officials were scheduled during the visit.
