Samsung Electronics reported a net profit of 75.21 trillion won for the third quarter, falling short of the 89.06 trillion won predicted by analysts. Despite the net miss, the company’s overall operating profit reached a record 107.4 trillion won on sales of 195.3 trillion won, marking its fourth straight quarter of record-breaking financial results.
The quarterly gains were concentrated in the semiconductor division, which generated 106.5 trillion won in operating profit, accounting for about 99% of the company’s total. This growth was offset by operating losses in Samsung’s smartphone and consumer electronics businesses. To capitalize on the demand for AI memory chips, Samsung forecasts capital expenditures will rise to 84.4 trillion won in 2026 from 52.7 trillion won in 2025.
