The Seoul-based chipmaker has entered into server memory supply agreements with 10 of its largest clients and is currently in talks with an additional 10. Samsung stated that based on current trends, it is increasingly likely that 60% to 70% of its total production capacity will be bound by these long-term contracts through 2030.
This shift toward extended agreements comes as hyperscalers seek to secure the DDR5 and LPDDR5 memory required for expanding AI infrastructure. While industry supply deals typically last three to five years, cloud providers including Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance have sought contracts reaching through 2035. Similar discussions involving Google suggest a broader move by tech giants to lock in volumes and prioritize supply stability over the memory market’s traditional pricing cycles.
