A suspected espionage operation targeting the head of Nvidia has led investigators to examine a suspected conduit for information within the semiconductor industry. US intelligence officials believe that Alice Huang, an executive at Megaspeed, leveraged her friendship with CEO Jensen Huang to gather sensitive intelligence and pass it to the government in Beijing, according to the New York Times.
The probe into Chinese intelligence activities also identifies Huang Le, a Singapore-based executive, as a person of interest for US intelligence. The investigation suggests that Alice Huang acted as a professional asset for China, as part of a broader effort to target high-ranking technology leaders.
