A forthcoming semiconductor plant in Texas has had its entire first phase of manufacturing capacity committed before ground was broken on the site. Samsung will produce HBM base dies for AMD and Nvidia at the facility, with the two chip designers securing all available slots for the new production line, according to reports from Korean media.
The bookings for the 2nd foundry fab in Taylor were first reported by Maeil Business, which noted that AMD is expected to account for the majority of the output volume. The plant will be dedicated to producing specific chip parts required for high bandwidth memory components.
