The National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland found that the previous government failed to maintain full control over the surveillance software it used to monitor domestic political opponents. An analysis by the Internal Security Agency (ABW) revealed that NSO Group, the Israeli manufacturer of the Pegasus system, could access infrastructure used to process and store operational data. The previous Law and Justice (PiS) administration paid $7.65 million for the tool, which was used to target lawyers, journalists, and opposition figures despite being purchased to catch criminals.
