A candidate for governor in Colorado has acknowledged a physical altercation with his own child but maintains that the event did not constitute abuse. Victor Marx, the Republican nominee, admitted to throwing his toddler son onto a bed and also denied that shoving his wife against a door for self-defense training was an act of domestic violence. Marx stated he does not regret the actions and would repeat the behavior with his spouse.
The GOP nominee’s remarks first surfaced during a Zoom call with campaign supporters and were reported by 9News. Marx has further argued that the physicality in his marriage is normal and that his spouse “fake cried” during the altercation. His personal history also includes a claim that he was forced to kill another person at age 7.
