Officials in Lithuania, Sweden and Norway are taking action against real estate holdings linked to Moscow that are located near strategic military assets. A Telegraph investigation revealed that Russia purchased hundreds of holiday homes in the region to serve as ‘Trojan horses’ for hybrid warfare, providing bases for surveillance, sabotage and drone attacks against the West.
Sweden is planning to seize a Russian-owned property situated beside a naval base as part of a broader European effort to secure key infrastructure. These actions follow warnings that the network of properties enables Russian intelligence to monitor military movements and operate within the borders of NATO allies.
