Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao said he had not suggested selling the company’s SpaceX stake to cover losses from its $6.3 billion hack, clarifying that he was only illustrating the exchange’s available reserves after co-founder Yi He stated annual revenue is sufficient to absorb the hit without offloading the shares. Zhao had earlier pointed to the SpaceX holdings, valued at more than $1 billion, as a buffer against an estimated $2 billion shortfall remaining after roughly $3 billion in stolen tokens were frozen onchain and more than $1 billion is drawn from Binance’s SAFU insurance fund.
