Several Gulf Arab states have warned Iran that they will launch military strikes, either alone or as a coalition, if Tehran targets regional infrastructure during a possible new round of conflict with the U.S. The alerts coincide with security drills at airports and other critical sites in Qatar and the UAE, where officials say they are preparing for the worst despite ongoing diplomatic mediation. While oil prices dipped recently after President Donald Trump suggested a peace deal with Tehran might be close, the U.S. president has also stated that Washington may eventually have to use “the hammer” to resolve the deadlock over Iranian nuclear sites.
