The proposal for the summit,’ which would seek a settlement favorable to Moscow, was raised during an October 9 phone call between Putin and Donald Trump that also resulted in a US deal to buy Russian diesel, according to the Wall Street Journal. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the possibility is under discussion and suggested a meeting on the sidelines of the APEC forum in Shenzhen on November 18-19. While China has signaled openness to the plan, a US official stated Trump has not yet agreed to the meeting though he may be receptive.
