The arrests and the closure of schools in the Mazowieckie region on Oct 9—due to fears of a day dubbed 'Bloody Friday'—follow two real attacks. A 19 year old man injured 10 people in Ostrołęka on Oct 7, and a 15 year old former student killed a 37 year old employee and wounded two others at a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny on Oct 8. Authorities also detained a 17 year old in Sierpc who, according to Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński, had searched for instructions on how to execute a bloody attack.
