Russia Pledges Material Aid to Kabul to Fight ISIS

Afghan security forces are waging an 'uncompromising' battle against extremists, and Moscow intends to provide the resources necessary to bolster those efforts, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Russia will offer material, technical, and expert assistance to help the government in Kabul combat the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations.

The security initiative also focuses on maintaining and strengthening ties between the intelligence services and security agencies of both nations. Lavrov stated that assisting Kabul's counterterrorism capacity is in the common interest of the involved parties to stabilize the region.
