A US delegation is expected to join Iranian negotiators in Doha on Saturday for direct talks after mediation by Qatar and Pakistan produced preliminary understandings on Iran’s nuclear program, Strait of Hormuz navigation and financial incentives for Tehran, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported, citing sources close to the talks. Under a draft framework obtained by Al Arabiya, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium stockpile to an agreed third country or lower its enrichment level, while reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping within seven days of an initial understanding. Each Iranian step on the nuclear file and maritime security would be matched by verified US measures to ease sanctions and the naval blockade, with China and Russia serving as potential guarantors.
