One such effort is a 1,000 km pipeline to Duqm, Oman, with an estimated cost of $7 billion and a projected capacity of 2 million BPD over a 2 to 3 year timeline. The Duqm route avoids the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb chokepoint, which was seized by Houthi forces last month, and places export ports 650 km from Iran. This supplements the existing East-West pipeline to Yanbu, which is currently running above 80% of its 7 million BPD capacity with 6 million BPD flowing.
