A military operation to clear an Islamic State hideout left 2 soldiers dead on October 14. Iraq's military reported that the fatalities included a brigadier general and another soldier who were killed by a roadside bomb on the outskirts of Kirkuk.

Two other personnel were wounded in the blast. The Iraqi army was conducting a search for insurgent hideouts when the device detonated, according to military statements.
