The AI startup’s volume of processed data on a popular aggregator rose nearly fourfold since late September, reflecting a surge in demand for its latest suite of artificial intelligence tools. According to OpenRouter data, the 7 day average for daily tokens used by Anthropic’s models climbed to roughly 2.2 trillion by Oct 24, up from approximately 0.6 trillion in mid-September. The increase followed the September 22 debut of Opus 5.5 and the subsequent releases of Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5, the latter of which costs 10% to 15% as much as Sonnet for comparable performance.
The jump in usage has led investor Gavin Baker to suggest that Anthropic’s year-end annualized revenue could surpass $100B, as the company targets an IPO. However, newer data from the payment platform Ramp indicates that the increase in token volume has not yet pushed total company spending to new highs; overall expenditure on Anthropic’s models remains 1.6% below the peak recorded in July. Despite the spend lag, Ramp’s data shows that the new Opus 5.5 model is now the dominant driver of the firm’s financials, accounting for 63% of its total model spend.
