Finland President Warns Russia's Military Now Capable of Modern Warfare

The Russian army has evolved throughout the invasion of Ukraine and will likely emerge even more powerful once it regroups after the fighting ends. Speaking at the Helsinki Security Forum, Finland's President Alexander Stubb stated that although Moscow's forces lacked the capacity to conduct modern warfare at the start of the conflict in 2022, they have since developed those capabilities.

Stubb warned that Europe will face a tougher military adversary and a shifted geopolitical balance following the current war. He noted that any diplomatic resolution with Russia is only realistic in the long run and that Finland's relationship with its neighbor will be fundamentally different moving forward.
