Memphis Murders Drop 37% in 1 Year After 13,000 Arrests

Sexual assaults decreased 30% and robberies fell 47% in Memphis after a wide-scale coordination of federal and local police. Aggravated assaults also dropped 29% as agents from several agencies cleared violent offenders from the city streets, according to data released by the US Marshals Service.

The Memphis Safe Task Force arrested more than 13,000 people and seized 2,200 illegal firearms during its first year of operation, an initiative launched by President Trump. Homeland Security Investigations located over 180 missing children as part of the crackdown, which Attorney General Todd Blanche said has taken the city back from criminals.
