A retired admiral's career has ended in a move described as a final historic dishonour. Ben Key, the sacked former head of the Royal Navy, has been stripped of his knighthood following an affair with a subordinate, journalist Jerome Starkey reported.

A senior female navy officer told The Times that the removal of the honour was hugely disappointing because it disregarded a lifetime of exceptional service due to one mistake. She added that many within the service continue to hold Key in high regard despite the sanction.
