Trump donor Eric Deters alleged that Guilfoyle asked him to pay her $100,000 American Express bill before her July 2025 Senate confirmation hearing while offering help with tax and legal matters. “It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote in Signal messages reviewed by the Wall Street Journal. Deters said he never paid the bill. Guilfoyle’s lawyer disputed the messages’ authenticity and said she was owed money for previous speaking engagements. Deters separately said he warned Susie Wiles, Donald Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle that he would go public unless they helped secure an extradition for his clients; he said they did not respond.
The Journal also reported that a January recording from Davos captured Guilfoyle describing travel funded by Greek businessmen, including a private jet flight with Aktor CEO Alexandros Exarchou, whose business interests she had promoted to foreign governments. Shipping tycoon Nikolas Tsakos reportedly paid for her stay at a luxury Paris hotel. Seeking help getting into a dinner for Eric Trump, she told an American businessman, “I’m going to make you a lot of f—ing money.” Rubio declined to comment on the donor allegations and defended her performance as ambassador, saying, “I don’t even know if it’s true or not true.”
