Speaking at the United Nations, he stated he would leave the Starlink device with the UN Secretary-General for the Iranian delegation, asserting that officials would need the tool to tell their stories once they "inevitably defect."

Netanyahu alleged that Tehran spends billions of dollars on internet censorship to prevent citizens from exercising freedom of thought and speech. He argued that the Starlink kit provides an alternative route to global information when the Iranian government shuts down domestic internet access to maintain its grip on power.
