The move comes amid scrutiny of a failure by counter terrorism police to identify Kerry despite having CCTV footage of him attempting to break into Farage’s home in April 2025. Officers possessed several hours of recordings of the suspect and his car but did not make an arrest before Kerry killed 78 year old Widdecombe with a hammer in July. Kerry is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court facing charges under section 5(1)(a) of the Terrorism Act 2006, while the police have referred themselves to a watchdog.
