The soldier wounded in a late-night struggle on Capitol Hill has been discharged from the hospital following his recovery from a leg injury. Interim Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffery Carroll stated that the assailant is now in custody after a Sunday night confrontation in the 400 block of 8th Street SE near Eastern Market. Seven to eight guardsmen had exited a van to intervene in a sidewalk fight when a man pointed a firearm at them, leading three soldiers to return fire and strike the suspect in the abdomen.
