Technical implementation work has begun on a gas exchange agreement between Iran and Russia, Acting Petroleum Minister Hamid Bovard said Sunday. Bovard stated that the deal is nearing completion and follows broad understandings previously reached between the presidents of both nations as part of a plan to expand economic cooperation in oil and gas.
Bovard arrived in Moscow to attend the 28th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, where Iran plans to discuss energy partnerships and production schedules. Iran also intends to use the forum to address the bombing of its energy infrastructure by the U.S.
