Confirmed pricing for the company’s first touch-capable laptops puts the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro at $2,899 and the 16-inch version at $3,399. The new models, which Apple officially announced at an event in Los Angeles, feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and the first OLED displays integrated into a Mac.
The hardware update includes a stabilized hinge to prevent the chassis from rocking when the screen is pressed, paired with a version of macOS that adjusts the interface based on touch or trackpad input. The release marks a reversal of nearly two decades of opposition from Apple, which had previously dismissed the idea of touch-enabled Macs as ergonomically flawed.
