Russia will deploy 200 construction workers to Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant in November to recover staffing levels lost during a regional conflict. Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said the workforce increase is necessary to ensure the construction of two new reactor units at the facility remains on schedule for early 2027, following the evacuation of hundreds of Russian personnel in February during military operations by the U.S. and Israel.
The increase is part of a broader effort to raise the total Russian workforce at the site to 700. This expansion coincides with strengthening political ties between the two nations; during recent talks in Moscow, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that Tehran has approved the opening of a Russian state radio and television office within Iran.
