Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Kashmir as the "jugular vein" of Pakistan during his address to world leaders on Friday. Speaking at the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Sharif vowed to extend full diplomatic, political, and moral support to the region until the Kashmiri people are granted their right to self-determination, stating he would use the fullest authority of his office to maintain this commitment.

The speech occurred on the fourth day of the annual General Debate. Other notable leaders scheduled to speak on Friday included Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
