The outages follow a period of Red Flag warnings where relative humidity dropped to between 8% and 20% and wind gusts in the Palisades reached the low to mid 30 mph range. Southern California Edison had previously considered disconnecting up to 246,000 customers to protect electrical infrastructure, while residents in the affected zones were advised to prepare 72 hour emergency kits.
