Hiring in the United States private sector expanded for the second consecutive month, with October growth slightly outpacing analyst forecasts. The payrolls of private employers increased by 86,000 in the month, with the services industry contributing 82,000 of those gains and the goods-producing sector adding 4,000, according to data from ADP.
The report showed that growth was driven by trade and transportation, which added 39,000 positions, while professional and business services saw a reduction of 27,000 jobs. Annual wage growth also remained present, with gross pay increasing 4.7% year over year and base pay rising 3.2%, while gross pay for job-changers grew by 7.6%.
