The royalty's visit follows a migration surge in July 2026, when between 70,000 and 72,000 people crossed from Morocco by swimming or using small boats. At least 10,000 of those migrants still remain in the territory. This tour takes place as Spain prepares for early elections next month and continues to manage its relationship with Morocco.
